Autumn feel: oatmeal with figs and honey

If you think oatmeal is as boring as your school’s breakfast, you need to have a look to this recipe. Since September and first cold mornings came, I realized it’s time to bring back honey as a topping to my cereal. Recently I’ve discover a new brand of honey in Italy by a small company who also produce an olive oil in Lago di Bolsena. Res Antiqva honey is became so far my favorite. The flavors-boosting ingredient like honey, figs and strawberries inspired me to cook this new dish.

It’s all started with visiting my favorite fruit & veggies shop in Milan Frutta e Verdura da Franco, Teresa & Figli where I saw figs – seasonal fruit that is packed with healthy elements and extremely tasty. Many doctors recommends include figs (or anjeer) into the diet to prevent sexual dysfunction, constipation, indigestion, piles, diabetes, cough, bronchitis, and asthma. 1/4 cup of Whole grains oatmeal

250 ml of hot almond milk

5-6 Strawberries

3 Figs

Res Antiqva Honey

Flax seeds

Place oatmeal in a pot with almond milk and heat. Bring to boil and then reduce to simmer cooking for another 5-6 minutes stirring constantly.

Once the porridge is ready, start serving. Strawberries goes first, with oatmeal on top. Sprinkle with flax seeds, add my favorite Res Antiqva honey from lago di Bolsena and figs. Enjoy your oatmeal with figs and strawberries!
