Fashion Week Diary: Ralph Lauren
For many years I was best known as a face of Ralph Lauren. I worked alongside the company founder and designer, Ralph Lauren in the luxury group’s headquarters in New York, cultivated a close relationship with the brand and walked in every one of the label’s shows until 2015. This year I was invited to see Ralph Lauren Fall 2016 show as a special guest. This is my experience.
My fashion marathon started in New York, the city that has a special place in my heart. As a friend of the family, I was invited to attend Ralph Lauren show. This was great in itself but to make this trip even more magical I chose to stay in an amazing Baccarat hotel. I highly recommend you to try it next time you are in NY because it’s worth it. Don’t forget to visit their cocktail bar Les Boissons to enjoy your morning cappuccino or have some late night drinks.
Before I start talking about my great experience that day, I would like to say ‘thank you’ to my mentor and the visionary, Mr. Ralph Lauren. As many of you know, I was an in-house model for Ralph Lauren and worked with Mr. Lauren for many years, including advertising campaigns and more than 15 catwalk shows. I still love wearing Ralph Lauren clothes and every time I’m in NY, I inevitably pay a visit to their flagship store on Madison, 888.
Looking back now, I can see how lucky I was and what a unique experience I had. Being a part of Ralph Lauren fashion family was one of the highlights of my career and I’m truly grateful for it. The fact that he invited me to become a part of this amazing world of his fashion show once again, makes me feel very honored.
The Ralph Lauren Fall’16 show was fabulous: great tailoring, amazing evening gowns and absolutely stunning, yet wearable daywear every woman needs in her life. Among my favorites were a short black dress, rich velvet jacket with jeans and long pleated velvet gowns. I must admit, the show was special and I had a few very emotional moments.
“For my Fall 2016 Women’s Collection I was inspired by a woman who dares to be herself. By day her style is effortless and sophisticated in languid menswear. At night, she transforms herself with the bold spirit of a cool rocker imbued with a modern romanticism”.
In the end, I’ve got a chance to come backstage and greet the greatest Ralph Lauren, Buffy Birrittella and RL Collection team, #TeamRL as I call it. It was great fun and fantastic experience. Being here felt like home.
