Pilates workout: warm up

Are you ready for a challenge? We’ve created a wonderful Pilates workout for you. We means me and Pascale Falempin, Pilates instructor at Workshop Gymnasium at Bulgari Hotel in Milan. You will find a set of carefully chosen exercises for every muscle group plus warm up and stretch exercises. Pilates is a very balanced way of training, I personally love it and I’m sure you’ll love it too.

Warm up
Before you start you absolutely need to warm up your muscles. Our warm up is simple and effective.

1. Arms long, up on the balls of the feet, squeeze the ring in and lean to one side. Keep the shoulders down and the belly button drawn in.

 

 

2. Marching prep. Engage your core* and take one knee up. Exhale up and inhale to return down.

 


Repeat each exercise 10 times, gradually adding 2 more reps until you get to 20. Warm up is about 10 minutes.
*Core muscles are the muscles that control your spine, specifically your abdominals, waist and lower back.
